Junior and Elite rider information for 2009

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

As of today the 16 year olds have the right to move to

junior or stay 16 until the end of the season. Our second year juniors' must

move to Elite or move to the Challenge . The riders need to understand if

they are planning Australia they will need all the UCI points they can get

to make the National worlds team as championship riders can only go as

National team members, or stay challenge. This is a UCI rule and a CCA

amendment about the second year Junior's.

If the Championship riders do not earn UCI points they are eligible for a

down grade to challenge for the worlds but if they so much as have 1 uci

point they can not down grade.

All riders changing Cat. will lose there Alberta Cup and CBA western

National points, However if they raced the Morley races they still count as

a Qualifier.

2008 World Championships, China

All of our riders at the Worlds get back today and bring a couple of World plates with them.

Sorry For the lack of updates

Cools leads the World

UCI News Release

UCI World Cycling Centre (WCC) trainee Samantha Cools has taken the provisional lead in the overall UCI BMX ranking following two victories in the United States.

The 21-year-old Canadian pilot won these races at the NBL Christmas Classic in Columbus, Ohio, on December 27th and 28th. In doing so, she overtakes the New Zealander Sarah Walker in the overall ranking and conserves her lead in the North American ranking.

The Christmas Classic is a UCI race that forms part of the North American Championships. The UCI points won by Samantha also help her in her bid to qualify for the Olympic Games in Beijing.

Samantha, who has been training at the UCI's WCC in Aigle, Switzerland, since October 2007, won the North American ranking in 2007 and finished the season 6th in the international standings.

Her next main goal will be the two rounds of the North American Championships that take place in Florida, in March.

BMX Worlds Declare Bankruptcy

Very quietly, the Victoria BMX 2007 World Championship Society - organizer of this year's world championships -

declared bankruptcy in the middle of last month. The local newspaper (Victoria Times Colonist) had a succinct

announcement stating that the organization declared bankruptcy on October 17th, and that a creditors meeting

would be held November 2nd:

IN THE MATTER OF THE BANKRUPTCY OF VICTORIA BMX 2007 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SOCIETY

Notice of Bankruptcy and First Meeting of Creditors in Local Newspaper (Section 102(4)) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN

that the bankruptcy of VICTORIA BMX 2007 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SOCIETY occurred on the 17th day of October 2007,

and that the first meeting of creditors will be held on the 2nd day of November 2007, at the hour of ten o'clock in the

forenoon, at the location of the Ocean Pointe Resort, Pacific Suite, 45 Songhees Road, in the city of Victoria, in the

province of BC. To be eligible to vote, creditors must file with the Trustee prior to that meeting Proofs of Claim and

where necessary, proxies.

DATED at the city of Victoria, in the province of BC, this 17th day of October 2007. C.E. CRAIG & ASSOCIATES INC.

Trustee in Bankruptcy Tel: (250) 386-8778 Fax: (250) 386-6864 418183

It has been difficult to obtain information on the bankruptcy, but from what we have been able to determine, the

organizers owe over $100,000 - the majority to local suppliers of services. The Canadian Cycling Association is

owed approximately $15,000, according to CEO Lorraine Lafreniere.

Lafreniere believes that the shortfall can be traced to a lack of corporate sponsorship. "They were just not able to

attract the level of corporate sponsorship that they had forecast." She also points to the Under-20 Soccer World Cup

drawing away potential sponsors.

A further disappointing outcome of the event was the track, which was scheduled to become a UCI track for future

events. Instead (if it survives), it is going to become an ABA run track.

Congratulations to all of our riders in the Alberta Provincial race today, We posted a whole bunch of awesome results

including a clean sweep in the Jr. and Elite classes. Hats off to Okotoks BMX and Alberta BMX for a fantastic weekend of

racing . The track and facility were in great shape, everything ran smoothly and on time, the weather was perfect and the racing

was excellent. With 405 racers this was the largest Alberta Provincial race ever. Red Deer in 2 weeks looks to be just as great, be

    sure to be there.

    Open Track and Work Party

I just wanted to let everyone know that there will

be no racing on the next two Saturday’s

(June 2nd & 9th) due to a Western National series

race in Medicine Hat and a Provincial series race in

Okotoks. Okotoks races on Wednesday nights so if

you want some extra track time you may want to

consider going there next week instead of our track.

On another note, on June 2nd we will be having open

track. We need parents to come out and help around

the track though. There a number of housekeeping items

that need addressing and we have a dumpster being

delivered to help deal with the garbage. The open track

and work party will start at 12:00. Come and help out as

long as you can. Even an hour would be greatly appreciated

    (many hands make light work).

The final UCI points race for this season in the USA is taking place in Prunedale, California.

Looks like all of the top Jr.'s and Elites from North America are in town for this one with many

riders still looking for a point so they can race the Worlds in Victoria this summer.

There is a large contingent of Canadians so we'll try and keep you updated with how everyone is

doing, if I can get away from the beach and over to the track. Prunedale is only a short drive from the

beautiful Monterey Bay and the Big Sur Coast.

    Airdrie Santa Claus Parade information

    All Airdrie BMX Members

Airdrie BMX is participating in the Airdrie Santa Claus Parade on November 25. All Airdrie BMX members are invited to participate in our entry.

We will have a flat deck trailer decorated to advertise the BMX club and also for our participants to ride on. Members may be allowed to ride their

bikes along with our float, of course dependant upon the weather that day. If it is wet/slippery we obviously do not want any of our members on their bikes,

in order to prevent any accidents. The decision on whether or not the members are allowed to bring their bikes will be made the evening of Nov. 24 and

will be on the website. We encourage all of our members participating in the parade to dress in their BMX gear and/or in the Christmas spirit. The

organizers of the parade do ask that we have no one dressing up as Santa, as the real Santa will be leading the parade. If you have any questions

regarding the parade please contact Tanya Schiffner - Airdrie BMX Promotions @ 946-9948 or schiffne@telus.net . Please note below the parade info :
