How to get started
with airdrie bmx
Borrow a bike from the track and try it! The club has loaner bikes and full-face helmets as well as a limited selection of long-sleeve jerseys and gloves to allow you to try the sport. Come during open track time (see Calendar) and helpful volunteers will get you started. Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required.
BMX racing in the province is sanctioned by Alberta Bicycle following UCI rules. All riders require a valid license to participate. Click on the link for Alberta Bicycle to sign up for a 2019 annual license. A full UCI license is $90/$110 and allows you to race all tracks in Alberta. If you would like to ride only the Airdrie track and are not concerned about tracking wins for upgrades, a general membership is only $41.
Click here for some tips for filling out this online form.
Next you need to register with the club. This gives you access to club-only activities like social nights and special events. Registering with the club also means you don't pay a separate insurance fee to ABA. Complete your registration online by clicking the link below. Club fees are only $100 for the 2019 calendar year. Don't forget to pick up a club racing jersey -- the new design will keep you looking cool all season!
Your membership with Airdrie BMX includes coaching and participation in district racing. All members are encouraged to attend as many coaching and racing nights as possible to put new skills to the test!
